Spreadsheet-based NCR tracking becomes a liability in aerospace once volume, complexity, and regulatory expectations outgrow what manual controls can reliably handle. Warning signs include late or missing closures, inconsistent data, weak traceability, audit friction, and difficulty linking NCRs to configuration, suppliers, and CAPA. At that point, a validated, workflow-driven system with system-of-record behavior and controlled integrations is usually required. However, replacement must be staged to coexist with legacy ERP/MES/QMS and account for validation, data migration, and change control.
