Aerospace inventory accuracy is the degree to which inventory records match actual aerospace materials, parts, status, and locations.
Aerospace inventory accuracy is the degree to which inventory records match the actual materials, parts, assemblies, quantities, locations, and control status in an aerospace manufacturing or MRO environment. It applies not only to count accuracy, but also to details such as lot, serial number, revision, configuration, shelf-life status, inspection status, and segregation of restricted or nonconforming material.
In aerospace operations, inventory accuracy is commonly managed across ERP, MES, WMS, quality, and maintenance systems. The term is used when comparing system records to physical stock, reconciling shop-floor consumption, verifying kits, tracking critical parts, or confirming whether material is available and eligible for use on a specific work order, aircraft, engine, or program.
Inventory accuracy should not be confused with inventory valuation, which is a financial measure, or with inventory availability, which indicates whether usable material can be allocated. A location may show material on hand but still be inaccurate if the part is in the wrong status, revision, lot, or physical location.
