An FAI coordinator manages the day-to-day organization of first article inspection activities and evidence.
An FAI coordinator is a person responsible for organizing and tracking the day-to-day activities needed to complete a first article inspection. In aerospace and other regulated manufacturing environments, the role commonly helps gather inspection results, part drawings, ballooned characteristics, material and process evidence, approvals, and related records for an FAI package.
The FAI coordinator may work within quality, manufacturing engineering, program quality, or a similar function. The role usually coordinates inputs from inspection, planning, engineering, supply chain, production, and document control, but does not necessarily own the quality system or have final approval authority.
In AS9102-related workflows, an FAI coordinator helps keep the inspection package complete, traceable, and aligned with the current product definition. The term describes a coordination role, not a specific certification or universally defined job title.
