A Learning Management System is software used to assign, deliver, track, and record employee training.
A Learning Management System (LMS) is software used to assign, deliver, track, and record training for employees or other authorized users. In manufacturing, an LMS commonly manages training content, required curricula, completion status, assessments, and training records for operators, inspectors, engineers, and support personnel.
In quality-sensitive operations, an LMS may be used to show that personnel received current instructions, procedures, or role-specific training before performing certain work. It can also support refresher training, skills tracking, and links between training records and controlled document versions.
An LMS should not be confused with an MES, ERP, or QMS. An MES controls and records production execution, an ERP manages enterprise resources and transactions, and a QMS manages quality processes such as nonconformances or corrective actions. An LMS may integrate with these systems, but its primary function is training administration and evidence of training activity.
