MRB disposition is the recorded decision on how to handle nonconforming material or product.
MRB disposition is the documented decision made by a Material Review Board on how to handle nonconforming material, parts, assemblies, or product. It records the authorized path forward after a nonconformance has been reviewed.
In manufacturing and quality workflows, an MRB disposition commonly applies to items placed on hold because they do not meet a drawing, specification, process requirement, inspection result, or purchase requirement. Typical dispositions may include rework, repair, use-as-is, scrap, return to supplier, or acceptance under an approved deviation or concession, depending on the organization’s procedures and customer requirements.
MRB disposition should not be confused with the MRB itself. The MRB is the review function or group; the disposition is the outcome recorded against the affected material or record. In MES, QMS, ERP, or nonconformance systems, the disposition is often linked to the NCR, lot or serial number, inspection record, containment status, and traceability history.
