An NCR closure SLA is the target time allowed to investigate, disposition, and close a nonconformance report.
An NCR closure SLA is a defined service-level target for completing the actions needed to close a nonconformance report within a specified time. In manufacturing and quality systems, it commonly refers to the expected time from NCR creation, assignment, or disposition to formal closure, depending on how the organization defines the metric.
The SLA is used to monitor responsiveness in nonconformance management workflows. It may apply to internal defects, supplier nonconformances, customer escapes, or audit findings recorded in a QMS, MES, ERP quality module, or supplier portal. Typical closure activities include review, containment confirmation, disposition, rework or repair verification, approvals, and record completion.
An NCR closure SLA should not be confused with the technical disposition of the nonconformance. The SLA measures timing against a target; it does not determine whether the material is use-as-is, reworked, repaired, scrapped, or returned to supplier. It also does not by itself demonstrate effectiveness of corrective action, which is usually tracked through CAPA, RCCA, or follow-up verification processes.
