Kit completeness is a measure of whether all required parts, materials, documents, or other job-specific items are available and usable for a planned work order, operation, or build step. In manufacturing, it commonly refers to the readiness of a picked or staged kit before work is released to the shop floor.
A kit is usually considered complete only when the required items are present in the correct quantities and are eligible for use. Eligibility may depend on revision, lot or serial traceability, shelf life, inspection status, quality holds, and approved substitutions. A kit may be physically present but still incomplete if one item is on hold, expired, unverified, or not matched to the required configuration.
Kit completeness is often used as an inventory, planning, and execution KPI in ERP, MES, warehouse, and production control workflows. It helps distinguish general stock availability from the specific readiness of material for a defined job. It should not be confused with inventory accuracy, which measures whether system records match physical inventory, or with shortage reporting, which identifies missing or constrained items.
