NCR fields are the structured data elements captured on a nonconformance report or record.
NCR fields are the structured data elements captured on a nonconformance report or nonconformance record. They define what information is recorded when a product, process, material, or documentation issue does not meet a specified requirement.
In manufacturing systems, NCR fields commonly include identifiers such as part number, work order, lot or serial number, operation, supplier, defect code, affected quantity, description of the issue, containment action, disposition, responsible owner, approvals, dates, and closure status. These fields may appear in a QMS, MES, ERP, supplier portal, or integrated workflow.
NCR fields are not the nonconformance itself and are not the full corrective action process. They are the data structure used to describe, route, analyze, and trace the nonconformance. Well-defined fields support consistent reporting, disposition decisions, trend analysis, and linkage to related records such as inspections, deviations, rework orders, 8D reports, or CAPA records.
