An MRO NCR is a maintenance, repair, and overhaul quality record for documenting a nonconformance.
An MRO NCR is a maintenance, repair, and overhaul nonconformance report used to document a discrepancy found during service, inspection, repair, overhaul, or related maintenance activity. It records what was found, how it was evaluated, what disposition was approved, and what corrective or follow-up work was performed.
In aerospace and other regulated MRO environments, an MRO NCR is part of the quality record for an asset, component, or work order. It commonly captures identifiers such as part number, serial number, work package, inspection step, defect description, disposition, approval history, rework or repair actions, and verification results.
An MRO NCR should not be confused with a release certificate or return-to-service document. Records such as FAA Form 8130-3, EASA Form 1, or a certificate of release to service may reference completed work and applicable conformity evidence, but the NCR itself is a supporting record rather than the release document.
