NCR evidence

NCR evidence is documented proof supporting a nonconformance report and its disposition.

NCR evidence is the documented information used to show what nonconformance was found, how it was evaluated, and what actions or decisions were taken in response. In manufacturing, NCR commonly means nonconformance report or nonconformity report, and the evidence is the set of records that supports that report.

Typical NCR evidence may include inspection results, photos, measurements, serial or lot references, affected quantities, material status, containment actions, disposition decisions, approvals, rework or scrap records, and links to corrective action when required. In digital quality or MES workflows, this evidence is often attached to the NCR record and connected to travelers, work orders, parts, suppliers, or inspection characteristics.

NCR evidence is not the same as the nonconformance itself. The nonconformance is the observed failure to meet a requirement; the evidence is the traceable documentation used to substantiate and manage it. It also differs from CAPA evidence, which focuses on corrective and preventive action after the issue has been investigated or escalated.
